"No one has ever become poor by giving." -Anne Frank
"God has given us two hands, one to receive with and the other to give with." - Billy Graham
The Bible teaches us that it is far better to give than to receive and I am a firm believer in this principle!
Acts 20:32-35 - Paul the Apostle is speaking to the Elders of the Church in Ephesus
“Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. 33 I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. 34 You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. 35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ”
Below, I will share with you two non-profit charities that I give to. If you also feel led to give to these charities, God Bless You! If you have your own charity you give to, excellent!! Keep giving!! I just wanted to use my platform to spotlight these amazing people and the wonderful work they are doing. They are truly being the Church!! Remember, the Church is not simply a building we go to on Sunday, but rather it’s who we are to be… the hands and feet of Jesus.

Special Kneads and Treats of Lawrenceville, Georgia opened its doors in 2014. It is the creation of Tempa and Michael Kohler and was born out of necessity when trying to help their son with special needs. Bradley would soon be aging out of the available help that had been provided to him by the government and they wanted more for him. Tempa was practically born a baker and realized through this special skillset, she could help so many people. So with God’s help they stepped out in faith. Michael leaving his steady paycheck and growing career to open a bakery. To say they have been blessed and have been a blessing is such an understatement!! God was calling them higher and they answered the call!!
Special Kneads and Treats, Inc. not only provides paying jobs for folks with special needs, but they also provide FREE birthday cakes to those who might not otherwise have one.
Isaiah 117 was founded in 2017 by Ronda Paulson of Carter County, Tennesse, with a mission to provide physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster care placement. Taking to heart the words of Isaiah 1:17 to “defend the fatherless”.
Fast forward a few years, and this is where Rissa Shepherd enters the mission! She is the reason that Putnam County, Indiana now has it’s own Isaiah 117 House! Hung up on the Bible verse in James 1:27 “to look after orphans and widows in their distress,” Rissa felt challenged by God to step out of her comfort zone. Through hours of prayer and educating herself, Shepherd is well into the process of bringing Isaiah 117 House and its mission to Putnam County.
To date (March 2025) the Putnam County Isaiah House is built, furnished, and staffed! However, they need additional funds in their bank account before they are allowed to open their doors and start serving.
